Here are some pics of the completed horns. I did not sand or paint them yet because I wanted to make sure this design was going to sound good first. After all, why waste time and effort if they sounded terrible?
The Listening Room
The foam is just temporary. I'm waiting for the drivers to break in before tweaking for sound quality. From this distance, you can't see the flaws in workmanship, hee hee. I guess those This Old House magazines finally came in handy as speaker feet. Because of the beaming attributes of this driver, I needed to lift the front of the speakers to hit my listening position.
Because of the sensitivity of the speakers, my crappy tube preamp's hum was amplified beyond tolerance. So out it goes onto the floor and in goes the solid state Buf-03 passive line stage, which is whisper quiet.
I'll write a sound critique and details of my tweaking after 50-100 hours of break in, so please be patient. See the next page.
